Who 5,000 suits

This size makes sense once an account already has a following of its own. Take a Glasgow wedding band with 2,300 followers built from three years of first-dance clips, ceilidh sets and couples tagging them after the big day. Adding 5,000 takes them to 7,300, a figure that sits comfortably next to the bigger bands couples compare them with, on top of a base that’s already substantial. The count ends up a little over three times where it started, which reads as a strong season rather than a purchase.

The same 5,000 on an account with 300 followers is a different proposition. It turns the profile into one that’s overwhelmingly bought, with a grid and like counts that clearly belong to a much smaller page. A rough guide by starting count:

  • Under 1,000 followers: 5,000 is too big a leap. 1,000 or 2,500 fits better for now.
  • 1,500 to 4,000: the natural range for this package.
  • 5,000 and above: it works as a top-up, and 10,000 is cheaper per follower if your posts can carry it.

The price, and the alternatives

Route to 5,000CostPer 1,000
Five orders of 1,000$69.95$13.99
Two orders of 2,500$45.98$9.20
One order of 5,000$34.99$7.00
One order of 10,000 (for comparison)$59.99$6.00

Prices are in US dollars. Your card provider converts the total to pounds when you pay, and any foreign-exchange fee depends on your card.

At 0.70¢ each, 5,000 costs half as much per follower as 1,000. Stepping up from a single 2,500 order ($22.99) costs $12 for twice the followers, and buying two 2,500s separately to spread the growth costs $10.99 more than one 5,000. Only 10,000 is cheaper per follower, at 0.60¢.

What 5,000 does to your engagement rate

Engagement rate is interactions divided by followers. Bought followers add to the bottom of that sum but not the top, so the percentage falls, and at this size it falls a long way. It’s worth seeing the numbers before you order rather than after.

Back to the wedding band. Their posts average 85 likes and 7 comments, so 92 interactions on 2,300 followers: an engagement rate of 4.0%. After 5,000 more followers, the same 92 interactions over 7,300 followers gives about 1.26%. Nothing about the posts changed; the number they’re divided by more than tripled.

StageFollowersInteractions per postEngagement rate
Before the order2,300924.0%
After 5,000 followers7,300921.26%
Same, plus 250 likes on one pinned post7,3003424.7% (that post only)

Does it matter? To most visitors, not much: they look at the follower figure and a few posts, not a percentage. It matters if you deal with brands, venues or agencies who check engagement, because a drop from 4% to 1.3% in a week is exactly the sort of change they spot. Run your own figures through the Instagram engagement rate calculator, and read engagement rate explained for what different rates usually mean.

Topping up likes

The usual way to soften the mismatch is a likes package on the posts people see first: the pinned ones and the newest. You don’t need to cover every post, because a visitor mostly scans the top row or two of the grid. 250 likes cost $3.99, 500 cost $5.99 and 1,000 cost $7.99, each delivered to one public post from its link. Pick the posts that represent you best. Like the followers, bought Instagram likes are a number on the post, not people who will book you or buy from you.

Delivery: within about a day

The first followers usually appear within minutes of payment. Because 5,000 is a big addition, it’s paced over a longer stretch than the smaller sizes and typically completes within about 24 hours. If you’re timing it around something, such as a new single, a wedding fair or a collection drop, place the order the day before. Keep the profile public and the username unchanged until it finishes.

What a 5K profile needs to look right

Once a page shows 7,000 followers, visitors expect it to behave like one. That doesn’t mean posting every day, but it does mean a few things are in place:

  • A posting rhythm. Two or three posts a week, so the latest one is never a month old.
  • Reels in the mix. Accounts this size usually show short video alongside photos: the band’s live clips, a Brighton vintage seller’s try-on videos. A grid of only stills can look dated next to the follower count.
  • Highlights that answer the obvious questions. For the band, “Set list”, “Venues” and “Enquiries”; for a shop, “Delivery”, “Sizing” and “New in”.
  • A tidy bio. What you do, where, and what to tap next. The line break generator keeps it readable on a phone.

A package doesn’t do any of that for you, and a big count on a quiet profile is more conspicuous than a small one. Our page on followers for musicians and bands covers the music side in more depth.

After delivery

Make a note of your follower count when the order completes. Instagram has said it removes accounts it considers fake, so with 5,000 some drop-off over the following weeks is likely. If the count falls within 30 days of delivery finishing, email support@followersgain.co.uk with your order reference and we top it back up free. Questions, answered

About the 5,000 package

How much is 5,000 Instagram followers?
$34.99, about 0.70¢ per follower or $7.00 per thousand. It’s a one-off payment in US dollars, with the 30-day refill included.
How long does 5,000 take to deliver?
Usually within about a day. Followers start arriving minutes after payment and come through in batches over roughly 24 hours.
How many followers should I have before ordering 5,000?
Ideally at least 1,500, so the order adds no more than about three times what you already have. Below 1,000 the jump is big enough to look out of place, and 1,000 or 2,500 is a better fit.
How much will my engagement rate drop?
Divide your usual interactions per post by your new follower count. An account with 2,300 followers and 92 interactions per post goes from 4.0% to about 1.26% after adding 5,000. The calculator does the sum for you.
Should I buy likes as well as 5,000 followers?
It helps the profile look consistent. A 250 or 500 likes package on your pinned or newest posts brings those like counts closer to what a 7,000-follower account usually shows.
Is 5,000 or 10,000 better value?
Per follower, 10,000 is cheaper at 0.60¢ against 0.70¢. But 10,000 only makes sense if your account is already big enough for it; otherwise the extra followers just widen the gap between your count and your engagement.
Can I time 5,000 for a launch day?
Roughly, yes. Because it takes about 24 hours, order the day before you want the count in place, and post something new while it delivers.
